Scaffold for Surface Analysis completed

In early February 2021, the long-term supplier for scaffolding works at St. Mary’s Church, the Werdermann  firm of Neustrelitz, has completed a 30-meter-high tower in front of the organ. This scaffold will be used for surface analysis, preparing the restoration of the surfaces of the organ case, the organ loft and the grand-duke’s balcony beneath the organ. It has been placed slightly out of center to reach also parts of the southern wing and one of the carved angels.

The scaffold was carefully secured and attached to the balcony and the organ structure, without harming any of the sensitive parts.

Reports on the analysis work of the conservator will follow here.
