Digital Measurement of St. Mary’s Organ completed

in the first half of 2020, a team of ITN Ingenieurtechnik Nord of Stralsund made laser-scans of the organ, its interior and its surroundings. Based on this data, a 3D model of the organ’s structure has been calculated, allowing organ builders and experts to easily capture the situation of available space and the historic bearing structure within the instrument, evaluating the possibilities for changes.

Sectional views (horizontal, vertical) have been produced, too.

All this was initiated by the need for an orthophotographic (= without perspectivic distortion) image of the organ’s facade, requested by the Heritage Authority of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state. This image was produced with the help of several UAV (drone) flights within the church.
