2026 – Next steps

Important information for all who trusted this project and have donated this far:

More than 1,2 million Euro have been given to our organ project since fundraising start in 2017! There are about 600,000 Euro of small and large donations as well as commited funds of 200,00 resp. 300,000 Euro from certain institutions. About 140,000 Euro have already been spent for preparatory measures.

Thanks got to all institutional donators who followed the initiative of our patron, Germanys former president Dr. h. c. Joachim Gauck, and to all contributors of small or medium amounts. Among the donors of large sums we welcome  the Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG, Künzelsau, Germany!

Difficult times now – hard to promote a far-reaching project as it was developed durning the 2024 design competition>. As an additional option, a smaller version of the project shall be developed, having a more realistic chance for realisation. Such a project may also consist of several stages. This will all be investigated during 2026.

In March 2026, works of the static reinforcement of organ structure, organ loft and duke’s loft (below the organ) commenced. Experimental areas for testing methods of surcface restoration will also be established.

Discussing the removal of historic decoration elements for the investigation of the bearing structzre of the duke’s loft  – Structural engineer  Frank Thoms, carpenter Reinhard Westphal and restorautor Bastian Hacker

Regarding the duke’s loft, two of the bearing consoles have dropped. The cause of this movement has to be determined. In the area of the main organ case, bearing structures of steel have to be installed to stop the lowering of the large side wings. See the Investigation report> (in German) by Dr.-Ing. Christian Kayser from 2023.
